Parents Association
When you enroll your child in Little Star, you automatically become a member of our Parent Association. We could not keep the school in operation without our parents’ involvement. The Parent Association requests two hours of service time per family per month or 20 hours per year, thereby giving all parents responsibility for helping to maintain and improve our school.
Our Parent Association not only helps the school but gives our parents the opportunity to get to know each other, gives your child pride in your participation and interest in her/his school, and broadens your understanding of our program.
We maintain a Parent Project List, located on the bulletin board in the front entry, so that you may sign up for projects. The monthly newsletter will include information about upcoming opportunities.
When parents (families) don’t fulfill their participation time to Little Star we are forced to use funds from the school’s budget to hire outside help. For this reason your bill will show a starting participation fee of $400 which will be reduced every time you perform a service to Little Star at the rate of $20 per hour which is what it would cost for the school to hire someone.
It will be your responsibility to turn in the orange participation slip provided in this packet (also available at school) to receive credit against the $400 participation fee. Each month your account will show any credits you have turned in. If this fee is a hardship, please let Trudi know as soon as possible so you can make arrangements . The other option is to pay $400 outright.
This is a new system this year in hope that the parental involvement will be equally distributed. We are very open to any suggestions or comments for this new procedure.
Don’t forget to visit our website for monthly updates of our school and snack calendar as well as the newsletter and other activities at Little Star.
At Little Star, we welcome families of every nationality, race, creed and background
