For a quarter century, Little Star’s financial situation has been contingent upon the hard work, dedication and time of staff, the board of directors, generous community members and parents.

The school owns the facility in which it is housed, and quality Montessori classroom materials, and a wonderful playground. With student enrollment steadily growing over the last three years, Little Star’s programs have been full or nearly at capacity.  Annual fundraising goals from our popular events (e.g., the Fall Festival and the bi-annual auction) are met consistently thanks to the efforts of a dedicated group of parents and long-time supporters.

However, despite strong enrollment projections and stable fundraising, Little Star finds itself at a new crossroad.  For the first time in our history, our operating budget requires us to seek resources beyond our traditional fundraising events in order to meet the goals outlined in our strategic plan.  These funds will:

Retain leadership and stability with our first-ever School Director

• Off-set the startup costs of an additional preschool classroom
• Provide continued state teacher certification and training, as well as Montessori-certification opportunities for all teachers
• Meet our growing building maintenance and capital expenses
• Provide need-based scholarships to ensure Little Star remains accessible to all families

Our strategy to raise these funds includes three key initiatives.  First, we are reaching out to supporters for donations, preferably as a three-year pledge.  Second, we are bolstering our fundraising through researching and applying for grants that meet our mission and strategic plan.  Finally, we are raising our tuition by 5% this year and 7% next year, which we believe is the maximum threshold for our families in the Methow Valley.

Your support will help Little Star enter the next quarter century of service ready to meet the needs of the Methow Valley’s children.  We hope that you will consider making a tax-deductible donation to Little Star today.  A donation to Little Star is more than a gift.  It is an investment in our beautiful valley’s most precious resource--the children.

• Red Apple graciously gives Little Star 1% for all sales with returned receipts.  Please place your Red Apple receipts in the designated box in our front entry.
• Little Star Montessori also collects empty ink cartridges.  We receive between $3 and $5 on most ink cartridges.  Even if we do not receive money back, all cartridges are recycled.  Please DO NOT THROW AWAY your ink cartridges.  Simply drop them off at our office or The Daily Business.  If your employers throw away their ink cartridges, please encourage them to give them to Little Star instead.
• Little Star actively seeks out and encourages enrollment of children from low-income families.  Approximately 30% of our students receive some form of scholarship to attend our school.  To help sponsor a child, click here: DONATION FORM.
